Our deepest fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other pe ople won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” by Marianne Williamson

People with Disabilities (PWDs) in Hunza

People with Disabilities (PWDs) Context and Rationale In general disability refers to the social effects of physical or mental impairment.Disable peoples are also reffered as People with Special Needs (PWSNs). The PWDshave the same rights as able-bodied people. Disabled people are over-representedamong the poor and are often among the very poorest. Disabled people share the sameproblems as the non-disabled poor but they experience poverty more intensely, andattitudinal and structural barriers limit their opportunities further. Situational Analysis Due to many factors disability was very common during old time particularly in old cluster settlements. However, after improvements in health related facilities, isolation of houses from cattle sheds and availability of clean drinking water the incidence is now low as compare to old times. The people of Altit were also living within an old cluster settlement with similar situation as stated above so the incidence was very high in old times. D...

ARE PEOPLE LIVING LONGER TODAY?

There are a few places on earth that have gone down in legend as being places where the average life expectancy is much longer – 90 to 100 years or more. One such place in the Hunza Valley in northern Pakistan. I find this location, it’s history, and Apricots a most fascinating place. In a future post I would like to discuss more about the Hunzakuts. Author James Hilton made up the term Shangri-La for a fictional place in his 1933 book, Lost Horizion. It is commonly believed that he based this on the land of Hunza where the average age was over 90, and many elders were even into their 120’s. They are a mostly vegetarian people, but do eat dairy products and the occasional meat, usually around holidays. Most of the year they are completely cut off being in the Himalayan Mountains. Rumi - 800 years!

Mawlānā Jalāl ad-Dīn Muḥammad Balkhī aka Rumi, [1] (30 September 1207 – 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian [2] [3] poet , Islamic jurist , theologian , and mystic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumi Teachings: The general theme of Rumi's thought, like that of other mystic and Sufi poets of Persian literature, is essentially that of the concept of tawhīd – union with his beloved (the primal root) from which/whom he has been cut off and become aloof – and his longing and desire to restore it. Rumi believed passionately in the use of music, poetry, and dance as a path for reaching God Rumi's life and transformation provide true testimony and proof that people of all religions and backgrounds can live together in peace and harmony. Rumi’s visions, words, and life teach us how to reach inner peace and happiness so we can finally stop the continual stream of hostility and hatred and achieve true, global peace and harmony. Lover's nationality is separate from all ot...

The HUNZA Post Born Today!

Hunza was formerly a princely state bordering China to the North-East and Pamir to its North-West, which continued to survive until 1974, when it was finally dissolved by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunza_Valley The purpose of this blog is my “homework assignment” by Mr. Affandi who is an institution in himself! A marketing Genius! .... I take this opportunity to educate people about Hunza traditions, culture, norms, beliefs, people, food, travel and tours through the residents and through the people who have traveled to Hunza. I also intend to upload videos, pictures and audio content related to HUNZA. Sincerely Jalaluddin
